About the Compress PDF tool

The Compress PDF tool reduces PDF file sizes so they are easy to send by email or WhatsApp, or to upload to portals with file size limits. Compression works by lowering the resolution of the images inside the document.

You do not need to install any app. Upload your file, choose a compression level, and download the result.

How to use

  1. Upload the PDF file that is too large.
  2. Choose one of the available compression levels.
  3. Click the Compress button and wait for the process to finish.
  4. Download the resulting file with its reduced size.

Where are files processed?

All processing runs in your device's browser using JavaScript. Files are never uploaded to any server, so there are no queues and no upload wait times.

File size limits

This tool sets no file size limit. Large files use more memory and take longer to process, so devices with limited RAM may feel slow when handling files of several hundred MB.

Security & privacy

Your files never leave your device. Nothing is uploaded to a server, no copies are stored, and no third party can read your documents. Close the browser tab and no trace of your files remains on our side.

Frequently asked questions

By what percentage can the file size shrink?
It depends on the document content. Image-heavy PDFs can shrink a lot, while text-only PDFs shrink only slightly because text is already small.
Does text become blurry after compression?
Vector text is not affected. Only bitmap images inside the document lose some quality.
Is there a limit on the file size that can be compressed?
There is no fixed limit. Very large files simply take longer to process.
Can the compressed file be opened safely on any device?
Yes. The result is a standard PDF file that opens on phones, laptops, and every PDF reader app.
